really weird to wait to install and render. I am using maxwell on my macbook pro and it runs fine, of course it would be better to have a universal but my photoshop, vectorworks and sketchup isn't either. my investment in a macintel hasn't been a speedincrease but not a considerable speed loss either. i have come to the conclusion that intel versions will have to wait and i am no longer holding my breathe. maxwell could be a year from now or next week, who knows, photoshop maybe next year and sketchup isn't even in betatesting.
of course you could wake me up for the universal binary any time[/i]

I have put XP 32 on my mac pro and it runs maxwell 6-7 faster then my earlier P4 660 3.6 Ghz

Just make sure to make the latest Mac Pro updates und use bootcamp to put Win XP on another Sata 2 Hdd...works awesome

i am very hesitant to put xp on my macbook. i have to deliver some work next week and to start experimenting now with bootcamp and xp. I have no experience what so ever with anything other than mac.

would the install procedures and sorting out all the textures paths under xp and bootcamp not be a problem on such a short notice. I have got things working now but 6-7 times faster is a real big difference especially since rendertimes are a bottleneck for me as well in this project.

well, maybe next project. its a good thing to know that these kind of speed increases are going to be here in the sooner or neerer future.

now i do feel very sorry about the lack of a universal binary. hmmm.

Earlier on the forum nachos said it's a matter of days and I would wait a little more.

If you are not used to windows at all I would not do this step right now.

Alos I would recommend to install XP on an external firewire SATA 2HDD.

But it can take days until you are confortable with Win XP.

I am just settling onto OSX and it's quiet difficult to get away from the old habbits.

ok, thanks, i will just do that, wait a little more. once i advised friends to switch to osx after they spend a lifetime using pc's. after about two months they considered me a fool advising them to use such an unfriendly complicated os. mac was not for them and never will be. they couldn't even send a mail with a file attached to it. they gave up and took their loss blaming me to be brainwashed by apple to think that their os was better. i never realised that in todays operating systems xp or windows is a suserfriendly as osx. they woke me up in a way. maybe it would even be better if nextlimit focussed on one operating system instead of having to spread their time over so many applications as well as operating systems.

i am sure sooner or later next limit will save me the hassle of getting xp on my mac though. actually maxwell used to be fairly complicated to me but now i am rather comfortable with it since i know all the bugs and workarounds. i am sure i feel the same way about xp after a week or so.

Well... For me, the switch from Win to Mac was absolutely painless and it was based on my free will, without any advices from friends or anyone else. On the other hand, as i posted above, after 1,5 years of happy mac use, i had to start working partially in XP on my new iMac intel it took me about 2 weeks to stop pulling my hair out of my head each time i see XP...
And still, i don't feel comfortable...
Guess i am brainwashed too :)
