(what a monster machine you have here... ou lala.. almost hurts..)

Version 1.1 UB was released in order to give compatibility to intel macs, we were not thinking very hard on performance, our interest was in having a bug free intel version. For 1.2 we have put a lot of care in trying to achieve te best performance on OSX intel also. We have still not done Windows vs Mac benchmark but probably there won't be much difference between both in the next version, and if there is any,I don't really know which platform will be faster.-Adrian wrote:Known issue that affects all MacOS users, can't say why.lebbeus wrote:anybody know why XP is faster??
Maybe the 64bit version and Leopard will play better. I'm really looking forward to compare 1.2 on Linux.
thanks for the reply--wasn't concerned about the difference, just curious since it was running on the same machinenachob wrote:Version 1.1 UB was released in order to give compatibility to intel macs, we were not thinking very hard on performance, our interest was in having a bug free intel version. Just a little Greg ...Greg Montague wrote:Chris - congrats on the new system! Hopefully Maxwell 1.2 will scale better. One thing that may be hurting you is having only a single stick of ram. Having four matched 512 sticks has lower latency than having 1 2gb stick since all eight cores are fighting to use the same stick of ram. Adding another 2gb stick should help.
It's already multi threadedivox3 wrote: One other thing, ...we really need the material preview to be multi-core, ..it's really bottleneck otherwise.
