Thanks guys, i tried your suggestions Jason with no immediate conclusions. In the end i removed the cotton mxm and simply re-applied it.This fixed it instantly previously i had set the UV over ride to cubic the default setting must have fixed it. It's interesting to know about this smoothing capability, i wonder if i even needed to sub-divide & smooth in sketchup. I am very impressed with the power of studio and the responsiveness of the forum.Many thanks again.
