Well, if the geometry can affect how the IES file is rendered, that would be in Maxwell's court -- I just pass it the path to your IES file. I don't think it's something to worry about though; Maxwell just wants some object with a transformation from which to direct the IES lobe. On the question of reflections, I don't know, but I think that's just how IES work. I'll try to check it out though; auto-gen emitters are hidden to camera/etc by the plugin, so it may also be due to that.
