i`m just worried about the display redraw... 30ms ...

and certainly for a large amount of geometry you need a really speedy graphics card...

hmmm... i should try that before thinking about buying one again... :)

let me check out that eizo.... *rrrrr*

by the way... SLI ...

is there way to use SLI or even triple SLI for modeling in maya or zBrush to fasten up the display ?

or what type of graphics accellerator could be used instead ?

SLI for OpenGl is a little mystery to me..
I don't know anybody who runs it nor did I ever see a review or any benchmarks
It all depends on the way openGl is implemented into SLI
in DX the game has to support SLI to function properly,
so it is not yet a fully hardwired solution. I guess it is the same for applications. On the other hand Nvidia states a lot of cool stuff about their Quadro SLI here:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_sli.html

but i don't really think that it works without glitches for every program... and the cards that support all sli features are just too expensive for my taste.

if you need raw power, consider getting a FireGl v7600, it has the best price/performance value at the moment, afaik.

interesting:

ATI FireGL™ V7600, More Power, Memory, Stability and Flexibility

ATI FireGL™ workstation graphics accelerators range from 256 MB all the way up to 2 GB of
dedicated on-board memory to enable maximum productivity and unprecedented performance.
To provide added flexibility, multi-card support is now available enabling two ATI FireGL cards to
drive four accelerated 3D displays.

check the news section:

http://ati.amd.com/products/workstation/whatsnew.html

i didn't know they just released the v7700..

New Flexibility in Display Output Configurations
The ATI FireGL V7700 features a DisplayPort® output and a Dual Link DVI output, together generating a multi-monitor desktop of over 5000 pixels wide. Featuring native multi-accelerator support, users can see more and do more with four displays being driven by two ATI FireGL accelerators in the same workstation.

This is also good ......

It outlines the differences between Geforce and Quadro cards and how OpenGL/memory/etc.. is dealth with.

At the time they released this, ..the best quadro card was the FX3000 -- so it's a little dated, but the technical brief is still valid.

hmm... that would be really a tough decision to make... but after this test i'd go for the ATI... of course...

thanks for finding this, ivox !
