Interesting. I'm running an Intel Mac Pro, OS X. Maxwell version is whatever was posted yesterday. Given the other reports that AGS and other things aren't working on Mac, could that be the problem?

Also, how long did you let it run? I just started it over here, and I didn't notice the first dots start popping up until about SL8. I'm guessing yours is SL6 or 7.

Mine was just passed SL8 but I guess you're right that could be about some problems we're living with OSX version. Later, I tested this with x64 and it didn't produce black dots, too. So, we'll focus on OSX and get the bug out. Especially Intel one I guess...

OK, I've found an easy test that anyone should be able to confirm (or not). Open the standard material test scene, and apply a 242 white lambert material to the entire ball (grey pieces too), and the ground plane. Red dots all along the gap between the inner ball and outer ball, with some more scattered throughout the rest of the shadow areas.

EDIT: I tried decreasing the brightness of the material in steps of 5. I am getting red dots all the way down to RGB227, no dots at RGB222.

These fireflies are not repeatable on my end (the windows platform). Neither on dielectrics or on white lambertians ... and I have not encounter them in a long while.

This is very likely a freak last minute occurrence of the OSx builds. Very strange.
