BTW.... I'M INSANELY INTERESTED IN PHOTOREALISM...

I'm just not quite pulling it off yet... :oops:

Interesting! I'd almost think that the sheer realism would excite the clients, and make them want to try new things, seeing as how they can really get a feel for the results! I think as a client, that's what I'd want... the only time I hired a big firm to build my studio, they had a primitive implementation of... Lightscape, was it? It was... alright.... at the time I was pretty impressed.

You know, this only of course sounds logical but it never really works out that way, at least not for me. Clients are weirder than architects. :lol: (Maybe it's just Pittsburgh :wink: )

I think we are looding focus here. Dejavu from the days Maxwell came out and i was still hanging around the Brazil forums. My only concern is that we have an assurance that some of the features, if not all, that we have been promosed will be here, soone than later. I have no complaints about MR now that the learning curve has eased, i just get a bit discourage when i see such a feature implemented on Firefry. And that feature is not "scotch tapep", i'm sorry. It is a very resourceful tool and we can all be grown ups to admit it. I actually hope that this competition, small or big, will encourage NL to go further that they have already gone. Lets not forget how we all felt when we saw the first MR~ images, it was a brease of fresh air.

And above all, lets not make these things personal guys. this is a discussion board so that we can help each other and share information, not the UN.

So, Go Maxwell, and suprise us Next limit. :wink:

I called it Scotch Tape not because displacement isn't useful! But because it's appended onto an engine that's producing such inferior images, so who gives a shit? Yay, you have displacement for your crappy engine. Yay. What's the point? In the end, it's about the image quality. Features without quality don't do any good; unless, as I said, you can't tell or don't care about quality. That's about as grown-up as I can be, I'm afraid. But you'll not hear me devaluing displacement... though it's funny, since I haven't had it in Maxwell, I just started baking it to geometry, and it seems my systems are robust enough to handle it, so it hasn't been an issue. I'm not 100% sure I need it anymore...

Maxwell = unbiased
Fryrender = unbiased
Mverta = biased, wrong and proud of it

That's all from me I guess :roll:

If by biased you mean I like Maxwell's superior image quality, then yes, guilty as charged. I'm not exactly on NL's payroll; if Fry was producing better images and making my career better, I'd be a Fry user.

I think you just have a hard-on for me, which makes me nervous. But I forgive you.

Once you stop using the "quality" and other funny words I might become flaccid again ;)

Well I got the whole picture now, anyway... he thinks Fry looks better. I covered that particular cognitive distortion already.

C'mon! For 134 posts in 2 years it's not that bad :D

Mike : To make myself clear. I like the Fryrender's new tone-mapping for darker shots that require contrast. For daylight outdoor situations I like more the Maxwell's look.

Are you able to understand what i'm talking about Mike or my english is just that bad?

No, it's not that bad :) But that is 134 posts I don't know the purpose of if you don't like the engine...? You can count my Fryrender posts on 0 fingers. Ditto my VRay posts.

_Mike

P.S. I find your tonemapping issue fascinating for so many reasons... so many reasons.... so many, many reasons...
