Hehe...glad you didn't take it wrong, Thomas. 8)

Here's the deal...all they do is punch a bunch of micro-holes in the paper around the filter to make Lights...and it tastes that way...like smokin' a broken smoke. (say that 10 times fast  ). Personally, I couldn't give a care about being cool or whatever...I just enjoy it. Nothing like coffee and a smoke...but I guess you'll never know what I'm talking about.

Also...it is a relaxing habit. Nicotene aside, having a smoke is an occasion for a person like me, who's always in a bit of a rush, to slow down and *breathe* deliberately. Being a bit high-strung (couldn't tell, could you? :) ) I predict that smoking has the potential of prolonging my life by 10+ years...and I'm only half-joking.

By the way...if you really want to piss off your dad, here's what you do:

> go to Home Depot and buy a box of 18g finish nails (for an air pin-gun)
> take a side-cutter, and break four or five nails off of one of the clips
> take your dad's pack of smokes when he isn't looking
> insert the nails randomly, one per smoke, in the non-filtered end
> replace them carefully
> sit back and watch his futility in trying to smoke one of the sabotaged cigs

...we used to do that to each other on the jobsite...beware, tempers may flare.

:) My dad smoked when I was a kid, I was militantly against him smoking around the age of 10, so I....

1: taped his carton together with packing tape
2: glued cigerettes together inside a package
3: ordered exploding cigerette inserts from a comic book and inserted them into his smokes. Watch out - they really explode, shredding the cigarette into millions of bits with a very loud bang - I got in trouble iirc. :D

PS. Later I smoked for many years and when I quit I saw an accupuncturist from china. He used accupuncture to stimulate the pineal gland explaining that the pineal gland normally is constantly secreting small amounts of endorphins to keep you relaxed. Nicotine suppresses this function and replaces the endorphins with itself. Then as the nicotine wears off - you begin to feel stressed (endorphine system not functioning) so you want another smoke.

His treatment worked like a charm, that was around 8 years ago.

PS> None of this applied to you JD, since you are not addicted and can quit anytime!

...hmmm good read! This is the first time I actually find somebody defending their addiction to cigs.

I'll rather have 100% of my lungs when I''m sparring (TKD) or any other type of physical activity... So I'll stay clean for now 8) as I enjoy a lot of things besides maxwell

 Yes, it's important to keep the lungs healthy, when somebody is kicking you and hitting you in the head.

:) I will keep in mind :D

One other time I had to figure out how the manufacturer determines the length of the cigarettes .... that was another experiment altogether :P
