This is great! Lots of work!

I see on the first post you are using Cinema4D 9.6 to model things?

Burnum: Thank you. Yes lots of work with this model but it's close to being finished. I use Cinema4D 9.6 and Bodypaint 2.5 for most of my modelling and UV layout/painting. The Cinema/Maxwell plugin is very good these days - it's very rare I have to use Maxwell Studio :)

Cool. I just started to watch some training videos on how to use C4D. I hope to learn how to model in it myself, your models show that it may be able to do the kinds of things I'm looking for. At the moment the only App I know how to use (that I also still have access to) is SketchUp Pro. It's nice for what it can do, but it sure is limited!! Many years back, I was learning the EIAS modeler, but they killed it... Haven't had access to Form•Z in over 15 years either. Still trying to figure out what tools to focus on. It seems the high end 3D tools like Solidworks, Form•Z, Rhino, etc., don't do much with UV maps... Animation packages do...

Some final adjustments to the foot pad and landing gear assembly. The framework and footpad was a number of objects with one texture map. The non-moving framework is now connected to the side pod.

The moving footpad and link bars are seperate objects with their own texture map. A new part has been added to the bottom of the strut piston.

Also, changed the strut piston material from chrome to iron, that when adjusted should be hopefully look more like steel.

That's a beauty already Becco, not only that but i'm also equally impressed by your wip thread. So detailed, well documented and perfect. :)
How about a action shot of that fine model with motionblur and the whole package of effects and postwork to boost the final rendering to a new level.

Great work man!

Maximus3D: Thank you. I do preview renders for myself so it's not much more effort to share progress with others. Doing so has made the model more accurate - the eagle 'experts' have been a great help in sorting out some innacuracies during the early stages. Dimensionally, this Eagle is as close to being 100% accurate as any model I make is likely to be. I still have your earlier comment in mind about making it dirtier and I think any deteriation has to be gradual - a bit more dirt added with each render. Any postwork effects will be kept within the context of what was included in the early episodes of Space 1999.

Burnum: Thank you. I doubt my Eagle will be rendered with a moon scape. I like to think of the Eagle exploring new and different worlds.

Now to tidy up the command module paintwork/materials. Not that much to do here, just sort out a few distorted UV's towards the front. Some light coloured 'dust' needs to be added to the black area, the sensor dish material could do with tweaking and a more representative panel shading to be added.

gadzooks: Thank you. I am generally pleased how this Season 1 Eagle turned out. My next one should be nicer.

The Command Module following some work to the painting. The first full render will be a larger version of the above clouds preview posted above. I have to wait some time before that can get started - the larger (2000*1600) cloudy sky is taking a few hours to render using Vue software http://www.e-onsoftware.com/ :)

wow, I thought you matched your model into a real clouds shot. those are a Vue render? nice.
I have a copy of Vue 7 Pioneer sitting on my desktop unopened.
