Hello,
We have just released a new version of the plugin for Photoshop. It is version Maxwell 5 | Photoshop 5.0.0.1
It allows opening the mxi files rendered in Maxwell 5 (as well as the older ones).
These are the tiny release notes:

COMPATIBILITY:
- Maxwell 5 MXI files are now supported.
- The plugin is not working in Photoshop 2019 from 20.0.2 to 20.0.7. It works in newer or older versions.
