Hello there,

when I try to reimport an object in Studio all the instances of that object will be deleted.
Does anybody know if there is a workaround or am I missing something?

My aim is to keep the model complexity in Sketchup low by using components with simple boxes as placeholders.
The components become instances when I export them as mxs.
After importing the scene in Studio I'd like to reimport the component with a more complex one - for example a tree.
The problem is, that Studio imports the object correctly and replaces the placeholder with the 'tree' but also deletes all the instances.

How can I replace a component in Studio and all of it's instances?

Thank you for help

You may find that MXS referencing is a better fit for what you need to do than instancing.

Instancing in Maxwell Studio is not like Components in SketchUp, because SketchUp keeps an external component definition (in the components window) that is not actually present anywhere in the model (much like MXS referencing in Maxwell Studio) -- whereas Maxwell Instancing is just copying actual geometry already inside the MXS file... when you remove that original geometry you remove its instances as well.

Best,
Jason.
