I moved my materials from one folder to another. When opening a material with MXED and no other software running, MXED's window is blank and allows no editing. The preview scenes work, textures are being found. The same occurs when chosing "Edit" from within MS.



Clicking "Edit" in MXED or MS just launches another MXED with the same problem present. When I open MS with an empty scene, open the material in question, and chose to "Embed" that material - then the uppermost BSDF can be edited, but also here nothing else is shown under Material Properties.

Why is this? Have I destroyed all my materials? Thanks!

Yes, that's what I did also - but you can't really edit the materials then, either. One is then stuck at Material Properties - no other Layers, BSDFs show up. All materials are referenced so my remote colleagues and I always share the latest version and can work when not at the office; that's why we're not embedding them.

The strange thing is, it all worked before the MXMs were moved from one folder to a newly created one (on the same HDD inside the same "Rendering" folder. Putting them back to where they were before does not make them editable either :(

The classic cock-up: deadline, Friday afternoon, weekend ahead ;)

ps: all materials were created under 2.6 and this Monday we upgraded to 2.6.1

I've not seen that problem before -- Usually I embed the materials as I bring them into Maxwell Studio to be able to edit them as needed for a particular scene... this works as it should for me, however I do not keep my materials on a remote drive.

I wonder if you somehow lost writing /administration privileges as a result of the move.
