Hello

At first a warm hello from my side, i´m new here in the forum & to maxwell as well. An i will have a lot of questions, i´m sure. ;)

Is it possible to dock , to fix the "Interactive Preview Window" in the layout ? An secondly, its possible to use the perspective window as the standard preview windo for FIRE ?

Hi Jason :)

I´m asking for Studio (2.5.1)

All the best,

You can reposition any element of the Studio UI by simply clicking and dragging the top bar(where the name is) to another spot -- the interface will either scale itself to allow space for the new placement or if you drop it on top of an existing element it will create a new tab for it in that spot.

If your FIRE preview window has become undocked from the interface then you can insert it back into the interface by clicking the minimize/maximize icon in the upper left hand corner of the window.

The new layout can then be saved as either a new custom layout or you can save it over the default if you would like to always use the new layout (use the Window>Save Layout command).

FIRE will always use whatever view/camera you have active in the openGL viewport when you start it -- however there is a dropdown on the top right of the FIRE panel to select a particular camera to use after you have begun to render with FIRE... If you want to use perspective exclusively then you cannot have any cameras in the scene. FIRE is better used with cameras in general because you have no control over exposure/focus with perspective view.

Best,
Jason.

Thank you Jason. I understand its fine now, besides one point. I can´t figure it out to to use FIRE the viewport instead the interactive viewport. It´s not to bad, it ok. but i understand your post that it should be possible.

A second question .. Is there a "histogram function" in maxwell ? I´m coming from the photografie side, and that would be helpful .

Well, you cannot use the FIRE engine in the openGL viewport however there is a button next to the FIRE button that will launch a "viewport" render anytime you want -- simply click in the viewport to end the render anytime.

There is no histogram in Maxwell and part of the reason I think this is true is because they intend users to use Photoshop (or similar) for post techniques and since the MXI format is spectral in nature (meaning ultra-high bit-depth) there is very little you cannot do to the finished render in post using the Photoshop plugin (to adjust curves/levels with no danger of loss of detail or banding).

Best,
Jason.
