Is it possible to turn a tree group (consisting separate objects for trunk,leaves etc) into a single multi material object somehow still utilising the original uvs of the group ?

I'm not sure if it does exactly what you want, but you can select multiple objects -> right click -> merge objects. I believe that will do what you're talking about.

If i merge five 'leaf' objects already having correct uvs for a leaf material , i get one object but the original uvs are
lost...... I need to retain or reapply those five uvs back to the merged object.....presuming this cant be done in studio ?

I was afraid of that. I knew I've tried it, I guess that's why I don't do it anymore. That being the case I don't think there's a way to do it in studio. Is there a particular reason you're trying to do it in studio rather than a modeling program?

I want to be able to instance trees more efficiently .... wouldnt be an issue if there was a group instancing function.
I also dont want to have to redo all the leaf uvs on some commercial pre-mapped models I purchases .
Moving and rotating instances of tree groups per object is a tedious and inefficient process.....

pipcleo, what modeling software do you use? Maybe consider merging and instancing in modeling software rather than in Studio?
