From what I can tell, people are not using maxwell to it's potential. The people that do the Cartoon network promo's have a start. Does anyone else see this amazing potential? I do understand a supercomputer and almost unlimited storage space may be needed, but what else is holding people back?

You can do a truly masterpiece stone sculpt with a needle. It would be just perfect.
but You can use hammer and other rough tools to get almost same effect.

if you do stone lion to neighbour's garden and not "David" masterpiece for museum it is just clear why.

or

You can fight with some guy and use perfect unbiased aikido method to not disturb CHI flow through universe. but You can just get baseball bat and make evil on his ass.

same effect - but 20 years differential -20 years learning aikido vs 2 months with bat.

I think it's just a matter of time. From what I've heard there are studios out there very interested in Maxwell quality. There are some issues to be worked out but the guys at NL are moving at light speed making improvement after improvement. I think within the next year we will see it pick up steam.

I just did a fairly big animation job using it. The results were great. I introduced the renderer to a large non-US based vfx house and have been pushing for increased use at the company.

I'm in the middle of a 6 week visit there right now.

We're actually working on a few animations rendered in Maxwell at work right now. Standard product fly-through sort of stuff, but it should be good.

I remember seeing some of the stills from that a while ago, but had never seen the animation until now. Really good stuff. :o Thanks for posting.

And when I say I 'introduced it' I mean I got them to actually buy a couple of licenses and use it. They knew the software but were afraid to use it because of its rep for being slow.
