We're creating an architectural fly-by animation with quite a lot of trees (say 50-100).
Does anyone have experience with Maxwell Proxy Objects? (and a link to a useful tutorial would be great!)
Are they effective? ..do they significantly speed up rendering ? or free up memory resources?

Thanks hope you can help,

Jesper

If you're using v1.7, there's a bug where instances (or proxies) that touch other geometry causes an almost complete halt, so I wouldn't use them.

If you're on v2, then do use them. They won't speed up the rendering but it will decrease your RAM usage significantly.

Maxwell Proxy Objects are usefull for Max viewport rendering, that's their purpose. They have a LOD support and can display huge amounts of geometry, thing that Max's instances fail to do. When MR rendering time comes, they are exported as MR instances.

Related to the tutorial, they are very simple to use. Just create one MR proxy object and click on the link button to link it to the geometry you want to act as proxy. Then instantiate the proxy object like you normally do in Max. That's all. Here with pictures. :)
