WOW!

Do we want to hear the render time on that?
How did you get the fog?

No you don't. :) Rendered at 32 megapixels, for many hours.

Rendered a z-depth channel and used it to create the fog in PS. No other PS work except for the fog and levels.

Indeed very nice render, Brian  . The leaf maps appear to be mapped on to a curved surface rather than a flat plane, is that so?
Your render reminds me of an answer Walt Disney gave someone who asked him if he was worried about others stealing his creative ideas, he said that he just stays way ahead of them

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Yes, Onyx trees allow you to use leaf "plates" that you can subdivide, curve, add noise, etc. I highly recommend Onyx.

I just recently purchased the OnyxGarden Suite...more to learn :).
For the PS fog did you use out-of-the-box PS filters like gaussian blur, or did you obtain a 3rd party fog plugin (if so, any recommendations)? .....the fog is very visually appealing to me.

I assume you do that in Max? I notice when I import the Onyx file into either Cinema4d or Rhino that some of the leaves are single, some come in sets of 3 or 4. So how do you get a curve on thousands of leaves this way? Sorry to be such a noob

Bubbaloo wrote:It's all in the export options inside the Onyx programs. You have to check the leaf plates option. I'll post some screen shots tomorrow from work, I can't really remember all of the options. I export as obj.
Brian, I just found that, but I see you already read my post...feel stupid....again...will play with it here a bit. Have to be careful with the settings...I see some leaves coming through others. Thx, Joe
Just ran a test...uhhh, definitely a major jump in file size with the realistic leaves...will have to work some with the mapping on the curved surfaces...doing this with Rhino.
Wed AM UPDATE: Got the curved leaves working! Glad you posted your scene!
