latest update.
this is the best i can get without fixing the issues.

i know it is very green and saturated. i wanted this green fresh look as it seemed most difficult to get. it is easy to get it darker and less saturated.
it could be still a bit brighter and the sun contrast a bit higher. (but i am quite pleased :-))

ya.. thhe close up looks the best as far as what you wanted.. the closest to the nonmaxwell render i think..

So what was the final verdict? asymetry to 0 (i like the wasy 0 or +.1 looks as far as balance between front/back lit.. but obviously with positive asymetry not too much green gets pushed through to light things under it so 0 seems ok)
what about changing the attenuation distance(with -.1 asymtry) from 1 to 2mm helps light bottome leaves under top ones.. and maybe slightly then using another LAYER with low layer value to add a bit of volume back..

also with -1 coef and 2mm transm i reaisred the saturation of transmit color and upped the Value of green in scatter color and UPPED the Coef of scatter from 1000 to 2000 this looks like it helps keep the leaf brign on sunlit side and keeps light still lighting botttom leaves.. but i guess right now still a bit too bright in the underlite side (leave a bit too thin lookin.. seems like a BUG too cuz I cant creat a 1.5mm transmitence.. it accepts 1.5mm but really renders it as 1mm..
maybe try see what it looks like: http://www.filefactory.com/file/a0ec03e ... erTest_mxm
you can add greenness to it with 2nd top layer
but like you say yur probably pretty please with your look now
