I got the maxwell file in your PM today. reading manual did help you, quick look at the file,
your focus setting is fine. Your emitters, hdri all fine. your settup is very good

minor changes asa 400, your envirnment was not on, (that was the problem)
K on keyboard to enable, your LBL background was not on, rotate the hdri as you need
& copy to all.

I have sent you PM with corrected file & setting ready to render, you can fine tune further. the file you sent me had no hdri & materials so I have used mine, use pack & go command to send in future so all materials & hdri used comes with it

Thanks for the help Phil, cant say I understand some of your post as I think it might be simple for you yet a little to technical for me at the moment Mainly I don't understand your advice for the minor changes.

-is asa 400 is that the same as the iso??
-I did not know there was an on/off button for the environment, I still dont see it?
-LBL background? Do you mean IBL?
and I dont understand your comment about rotating the hdri as needed and copy? No clue in fact

Here is the final render, and to be honest I'm not happy with it at all. No ones fault but my own as I'm a nooby to maxwell studio but disappointing none the less The diamonds are dead and the metal is just, well, grey.....

I had replied in a rush,

correction: I use ISO = 400 & IBL (not LBL)
the file you sent me had environtment off, so your hdri was not lighting up. use key K on the keyboard to swith on/off. looking at the environment set up on your studio, at your background, set the the hdr file you need, and you will see there apply to all (not copy to all
as I said) you will also see offset degree to rotate your hdri there
for the diamonds & platinum color, check your emitters temprature, I use at 6500deg

These things have a big impact on focus:

Scene scale - first make sure your objects are at the true scale...

How do you do that? I am making my models in ArchiCAD 14. I either use the plug-in or save as a .#3ds file and then open in Maxwell Studio.

When the objects/building are/is loaded into Studio, how do I know what scale it is and how would I change it if it's not "true scale". ?
