As you mentioned, this method would need to use HDR images to give accurate results.
Here, you map a rainbow gradient to the image's black-White gradient which is far from representing the full dynamic range.
Anyone aware of a tool which could do the same on a HDR file ?
NL ? This "false color rendering to show light distribution" ... would'n it be nice to provide this tool to help users improve their renders ?
