Hi

Just a question for my understanding. Often i read, that maxwell is mostly used for stills and not for an animation. Is that right and if yes what are the reasons for that ? Performance issues in case of rendering times per frame ? Or i´m totally wrong ?

Thomas, it can be done and I, as well as others on the forum, have done some in the past. The main restriction is frame render times being too long. If you have access to a render farm, or buy time on an online farm, then it is relatively straight forward.

I just worked on an exterior animation. I had a number of bugs to work out. Some on the maxwell side (licensing issues), some on my side (unstable network issues), but I don't think I ran into any more/less than I'd expect with any other rendering software right now. Render times were long, certainly longer than a biased renderer but the quality turned out pretty nice and I didn't have to learn another software.

I'm getting ready to do an interior walkthrough though which I won't be able to do in Maxwell for time constraints. The noise would just take too long to clear up so I'm going to need to use a biased renderer where I can do some cheats.

@All Thank you. That´s what i thought (time issues ) , but i wasn´t sure, perhaps there could be other reasons.

it also greatly depends if the scene is complex or not... for a simple walk around of a product, a few PC's will do... now for an elaborated scene with Characters and lots of decor... there are many online render farms..
