ya turned out great.. the first pic esp -if it weren't for silhouettes it would look like photo.. (little bit of grain actually looks good as ISO of real cam probably would be high for the indoor lighting-- i always like a bit o grain as clean renders look too cg)

Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I feel like rolling back to maxwell beta releases... they were simple but kind
of did the job, even with the early SSS! Considering this release is called 2.5 there are just too many issues, even though
the prize tag is fairly low.

It has been explained a bit in here:

Here's an example:

I've found a quick fix for this bug, check the thread for the workaround. http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/view ... 13&t=35866

Nice renders & solution to your initial problem btw. 8)

thank you for sharing Tim Ellis!!!

FUSO: but in all reality.. for me this 2.5 release is the best and most usable maxwell version ever (FIRE alone has finally made it so i can use maxwell on 99% of all my production needs..before i used maxwell maybe on 10% of work as the wait & tweeking for what materials look like in renders took far too long-and the improved SSS is great, esp tha tyou can now mix sss inside dialectics and it acctually clear/usable at lower SLs)

@3dtrialpractice: I know what you mean and I find most features improvements pretty impressive, too! My concern is
purely about its technical reliability. All those features are of no use for me as long as I cannot provide my clients with
a finished render in time because it failed to process via network rendering - clearly a feature which is essential, looking
at current render times for still images!

I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same as me, but I used to get decent renders out on single node local render in just a
weekend! Now I have to throw our 9 PC render farm at the job where 3 of them are the latest dual quadcore 16G RAM, isn't
that somewhat insane?? I'm really looking forward to see a REAL speed improvement hopefully soon, instead of more fancy
features.
