I feel like this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the thread. Is it possible to do a network render on a computer if you aren't running on the same internal network? For example, if I'm traveling with my laptop is it possible to send a network render to my computer via Internet to have rendered?

As far as I know there's no terribly simple easy button but there are ways. You can use dropbox (http://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTM4NDI4MTk -by using that link I get a referral) to transfer large files between your 2 computers. In this case, you'd probably want to do a Maxwell Pack n Go to a folder on your Dropbox. It will then sync over to your rendering computer which you've also installed Dropbox on.

As a side note, if you've got multiple computers Dropbox is absolutely incredible and I use it on a daily basis. One of it's most amazing features is that you can basically sync anything on your computer. For example, I've got my SketchUp plugins folder on Dropbox so it syncs them automatically. I also put my Maxwell previews folder on there so that if I change or add to my previews they're synced between computers. And I used to have my Firefox profile on there (before I switched to Chrome) and everything stayed synced, including which tabs I had open.

The other tool you'll learn to love if you don't use it already is Logmein.com ( https://secure.logmein.com/ ). It's free and it lets you log into your other computer and work from there. Depending on your internet speed it's not exactly like working in real time from that computer but it's really quite close. All you should need to do is open up your Pack n Go folder which has been synced (note that since Maxwell files can get fairly big this could take some time to sync up - anywhere from a few minutes to typical files to 30 minutes for large files with big textures to 2 hours for really huge stuff), and hit render.

I got my laptop today and used windows 7 remote desktop features and I can say that I've never been more impressed than I was when I saw this. Absolutely flawless in terms of speed and image quality. I just bought a budget laptop so I could do basic stuff but now that I have the remote desktop setup I can do heavy duty work as well.

Amazing!!!
