When doing a cooperative network render, it seems that the preview is broken. Is this a known bug in version 2.1?
When hitting the preview button I can see the display request in the console but nothing happens. Neither when requesting a preview from a node nor the mixed preview from all nodes.
The network render itself works and the final mxi is written to its destination.

Hello SaT,

We've detected some issues on the network merging that could affect this.

Fortunately we've already solved it.

We are close to release a new version with this issue solved, but we've uploaded a patch fixed version that will allow you to render without those problems.

Now, on the Maxwell Download Area (through our Customer Gateway) there is a new option on the Maxwell download combo, named "Version 2.1 (Network Patch)", including a newer version of Maxwell and the MXIMerge applications.

Simply download it, unpack and paste it on your Maxwell application folder (overwriting the old ones). You have to do the same in all the computers in your farms.

Let me know if this solves the problem.

Greetings

Did three quick cooperative tests tonight with the new "network patch" 2.1 version, on a 2 machines OS X network, and preview is working just fine.
For what it's worth, I always reset the network (using the "reset all" button) between renders.

Merging the resulting MXIs also happened without problem.

Hi guys,

As I'm just about to upgrade to the latest version of maxwell and its plug-ins
Now I'm getting a bit confused about this patch. I've just downloaded the latest
full version 2.1 released on the 19th of July 2010. Do I still need the patch to
avoid running into network problems? Can someone confirm this again please
as I need exactly that feature to work flawless.

Thanks guys,

J

Yes. The 2.1 version was released in July, while the patch was released more recently. So after you install Version 2.1, then download and install the patch.

Cheers Brian for clarifying this once more, I guess I'm a bit overworked and too caucious
when it comes to upgrading as I had my bad experiences. However, I'm looking forward
to play with my new toys!!

No problem! Cautiousness is a good thing when it comes to upgrading in the middle of a project. Sometimes I have to wait months to upgrade major programs like Max or AutoCAD while we have projects in progress. I've learned the hard way what can happen if you jump too soon.
