Hi all,

I need to do a liquid (opaque) in an enclosed glass box.
Is this what i need to do? (See below for the image)

And to render this, which i always have the problem that is it will take quite an extreme
rendering time to clear away the noise because of glass material. So shall i use HDRI in IBL or the normal light planes to do the lighting? What are the pros and cons of either way?
I saw an image in the Maxwell home showing some fruits in multi-color glass materials and they were rendered so clean without noise, was wondering how was that achieved. Extreme long rendering hour? : (

That looks right to me except I think you need to flip your normals on the inner glass wall.

As for lighting, I'm not sure for dielectrics but SSS renders best with hdri lighting.

I would remove the part of the glass where it meets the liquid (at the top) and reverse the normals of the inner walls of the glass. Otherwise you might have issues with the coplanar faces between glass and liquid, or even if you have a tiny gap between them, Maxwell will take it as air and so you'll have a glass>air>liquid interaction and you only want glass>liquid.

Sorry to reply this late.

RichG and Mihai, thanks for helping this out.

itsallgoode9, thanks for the effort. : )

So i guess, a clean render on glass material is on much longer render.
