I'm planning to lie on the ground and shoot upward at a dirt embankment with the goal of seeing if I can add a Maxwell water surface such that it seems I am photographing dry people on the bank of a pond from the underwater POV of a fish.
Any advice on approach? I'm looking for refracted transmission near the center of the image, and perhaps internal reflection off to the sides. Whatever is warranted by the particular line of sight angle.

a little like this image I found

If I just put the camera inside an enclosed water volume of the right shape and ior and reasonable lighting will it pretty much sort itself out?
