Is there any option to ignore the normals when importing *.obj files?

I have some objects exported from MoI (moments of inspiration) but there seem to be missing a lot when importing and rendering directly in Maxwell.
Loaded in Cinema this is looking fine. When rendering via the plugin not even using the 'ignore normals' setting this is rendering as it should, but imported directly to the studio it is displayed as rendered - horribly wrong, only showing parts of the polygons.

example: (there should be round faces with wholes for screws in it, instead I find round openings)

edit:
2 more examples to show what I mean.
imported in Cinema and rendered via the plugin (just added the scene object and hit render)

imported the same model in Studio and hit render.... this happens:

it's my understanding that obj's are, and always have been a problem from one application to another (especially when exporting them from lower end pipeline apps such as moi and, from my own experience, silo)... c4d obj importer is obviously reading your obj differently than mxst.... something like this is more than likely out of your control for the time being...
although, you seem to have solved the problem by creating a work around

edit: what does the rendered mesh look like if you export the obj from c4d and import into mxst?
edit edit: if it still chops it up after that, then there's something that needs to be addressed with your smoothing groups

The funny thing is that Maxwell in Cinema behaved exactly the same way (showing some faces, not all) before the last plugin option (and I'm not even using the 'ignore normals' option that the new cinemamaxwell plugin offers) - so there seems to be something within either Maxwell itself or within the last cinemaupdate that changes this obj behaviour.

I ask these things exactly because the intended model gets me a 120mb Cinema file and on my 4 year old Laptop Cinema cannot add anything and crashes when exporting... so I wanted to import it directly to maxwell, but then I got these results that I don't feel fine with.

Gonna give it a try at another computer soon, now that I'm on holidays.
