I would please like to know how to get motion blur working again with the new Cinema plugin.

With Maxwell 1.5 I would simply apply a motion blur tag to the object in question, define its motion and it would work.

With the new plugin the part that is supposed to be motion blurred simply does not appear in the render.

Motion blur working in this Cinema 9.6/ Maxwell 1.5 example.

With Cinema 9.6/ Maxwell 1.6 the motion blurred airscrew does not appear in the render.

Opening the problem scane in Studio, with the airscrew selected shows this. A Cinema plugin or Maxwell problem?

Either way it would be good for this to be fixed!

Have you enabled motion blur in the maxwell render settings?

Seems to work here...

Yes I enabled motion blur. The object should still appear in the render even if motion blur is not activated?

Also, I have tried many options including a range of motion blur strengths, motion blur enabled/ not enabled. I even tried with the maxwell material removed in case that was acusing a possible conflict.

The application of a Cinema 9.6 motion blur tag causes the problem. Without the tag being applied the object renders (without blur obviously).

mashium123 But does your object blur when it has a rotational blur movement and not the linear one you have kindly produced.

This is interesting... looks really strange... :

There seems to be things going totally wrong. But "at least" the object are there. I wonder, why yours seem to disappear.

It seems Maxwell's motion blur now only works with linear motion blur.

Perhaps your object partly is visible because it is 'thicker'?

There is a problem with the plugin or the Maxwell engine with rotational motion blur. I tried the same scene in the demo of Cinema 10 and the result was the same.

Until the problem is resolved I have the option of going back to Maxwell 1.5 so all is not lost. Thank you for taking the time to produce your tests though - they help to define the problem better.

One day Maxwell and its plugins may get properly tested before release!

Hmm... looking at my testrender I can't say that linear blur "works" really.
Look at the sphere that moves to the right. It has a blur as if it moved downwards.
Look at the sphere that moves downwards. It looses its shape totally... it looks like something rectangular or such, and I can't really see in which direction the blur shows... :?
And finally the rectangular shape that rotates, doesn't really blur correctly too, does it...
Additionally I don't see that the strength value of the motion blur tag has any effect...

mashium123: When you open the scene in Maxwell Studio and select one of the offending objects does look like the airscrew in my example (with all those yellow lines coming from it).

We Cinema users should be used to this all to familiar 'not quite working' on first release of a new plugin.

One or more of 3 things initially come to mind:

1. A proper testing procedure is not in place for the tester/s to adhere to.

2. The tester/s do their own thing with what interests them.

3. The plugin was knowingly released with such an obvious fault.

I can confirm you first topic... I see the lines...

The things that come to your mind are points I can not confirm.

It depends how quickly the object is rotated, if it's 180° for one frame, it won't work, currently Maxwell is limited to 2 substeps motionblur. If you do a slower rotation it should look like you want.

Sure. The rectangular thing, that rotates in my test above, needs 25 frames for 115 degr, so it rotates *quite* slowly.
But that's only the rotation side. I'm am very surprised how wrong the linear motion blur appears to be.
