Worryingly quiet on the C4D forum...

Is that because everybody's happy?

Not a bit satisfied, but after all this time what is one to do? I'm not too excited about 1.5 since it seems like a long shot that we will get a new (full featured) plug at the same time ... until then, Maxwell will remain a digital paperweight. Just my personal opinion of course, no flames please.

I agree as well. I not going to mess with maxwell until the C4D plug-in is enhanced. It's just too cumbersome for real-deal architectural projects. Those 1.5 features don't mean a thing unless I can use a "friendly" plugin.
I have been spoiled elsewhere.

I wouldn´t stretch it as far as "happy".
It´s usable, just not very efficient to use.

Better memory handling might be increasing it´s use, but i´m not praising a thing until i´ve tested it myself with a highpoly scene in highres. (lowpoly in highres would be plain pointless)
If it works, great, if not see line 2.

The rest of the announced features are of absolutely no use to me.
I´ld be far more thrilled over a proper alpha output and support for all C4D material channels.

There was no mentioning of a new c4d plug in so I assume that unfortunately nobody at NL thinks that it needs improvement. This is one of the things that bothers me the most, we were promised at the beginning to get a connection to the render engine trough the plug in, but NEVER the c4d plug had all the functions as studio or even some of the other plugs. It seams they just don't care about us c4d users and surly they don't listen to our suggestions. it is ridiculous that the work flow was much better in alpha/beta stage.
I would be realy surprised to see someone from the NL team respond once to this discussions in the c4d section of the forum

Is 6,5 Mpolygons in 3000*2000 highpoly&highrez enough?
C4D+M~W - works just fine :)

The polycount sounds sufficient enough, just not the resolution.
Now if we will be able to render out those polys in double the resolution, we´re talking. :)

Kizo,
A little fairness is in order here. The latest team actually did a far better job with the plug than any prior Cinemaxwell team. At least it works.
Unfortunatly they don´t run the show, NL does, and they´re more concerned about Studio, the Maya plug, and the Max plug.

And btw NL have already shown their lack of interest for this section of the forum many times over, so i wouldn´t expect an answer from them here for a couple of eons or so.

...although they´re free to prove me wrong if they like...

Hi everybody

I am also confused with cinemaxwell. It is working now, atleast. But plugin really kills great C4D workflow (as complained many times). And developing plugin should not last more than year i think. In my opinion we do not need deep integration. For me is custom mxm style quite good. But I would set mxm path "inside" C4D material setting dialog. This change would be good enough for me. Tag system for materials is really stupid. :(

I hope for x64 version of Cinemaxvell...

@ Rochr
I dont think I said somthing not fair. The plug worked for me in previous releases too and I was using it in production every day
The actual one is slightly improved but the old way of assigning materials was more comfortable for me.nevertheless I cant understand that there are "more " important and less important plug ins. Is my (or your) money less worth because we are c4d users?
There is no excuse for such behavior and no need to defend it in any way.

No pun intended kizo. I just wanted to point out that this last team at least made it workable. It´s far from adequate for paying jobs, but workable if you have time to play.

As for which plug is more important, i solely base my assumption on the updates, but from where i´m standing, the plugs i´ve mentioned seem to get quite a lot of attention, and also quite a lot more functions than the C4D plugin.
Really, if the Maya plugin were in the shape Cinemaxwell is now, i seriously doubt they would have to wait several months for an update.

So i guess some customers are more important than others, sadly.

Perhaps the release of VRayForC4D might make NL give Cinemaxwell a higher priority...I'm no expert but I suspect there's a hell of a lot of interest in Stefan's VRay and it might make C4D more mainstream hence more interesting to NL...

I could be well wrong of course...

Only a nutcase would dismiss C4D. It´s userbase grows faster than most people realize, especially in Europe.

If NL doesn´t care about loosing that growing customer base, it´s their mistake. These days there are other renderers to choose from.
Definitely something to keep in mind if the shape of this plug hasn´t changed significantly once it´s time for V2...

Hi everyone,

Yes, it has been too quiet on the Cinema4D side as we have been extremely busy with the upcoming 1.5 release. Of course that is no excuse to not reply to customer enquiries and so my apologies for this absence of responses.
I can let you know that we are reading your wishes (your compilation of wishes in the wishlist thread is greatly appreciated) and working on them. The release of 1.5 will bring an improved C4D plug-in, completely adapted to the new features like Z-clip and HDR output. The plug-in will also benefit from the core improvements, resulting in better memory handling etc.
However, we are also running a parallel project on the C4D plug-in, which involves a complete and total revision of the plug-in, and which will incorporate and make available most of your wishes in the wishlist thread. There will be complete material integration for example.
We do understand that the C4D plug-in needs work, and it is first on the list now that we have finished the 1.5 dev. We have not forgotten the C4D users of Maxwell Render, and we never will because you are all valued customers.

Cheers,

Nicole
