I'm sure it's something to do with being new to C4D and the MW plugin but could someone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

Console Output for failed render:

"Error: UVW channels ( 0 ) on object "Cylinder" not enough for material "concrete-01""

TIA

hello adri!

This error mean that you have not applied any texture tag at your cylinder.

To solve the problem:

1_select cylinder (in object manager), right click and choose maxwell custom material(within maxwell tags).
2_select the maxwell material and choose start materila editor.Apply the texture you need.
3_make a preview(within maxwell editor) and after save the material.
4_close maxwell material editor
5_Right click in the cylinder(in object manager) and choose texture tag (within cinema tag). At this moment you can render without any problem but before press render make the follow.
6_(optional)
6.1_ choose the cylinder (inobject manager), and select his texture tag
6.2_ them , you will see 3 slot : BASIC , TAG and COORDINATES.
6.3_ select the TAG and below you´ll see proyector. Left click in
proyector and choose cylindrical.
7_ Press render

I hope this help you. I´m new in cinema 4d too, not in maxwell(using within 3ds max) and still i can´t see the textures in the display, i dont know if is possible. Could any advanced user tell me how can i see the maxwell textures applied at my objects. Thanks

many thanks!!!

Just one more question if you know it. Why are my renderings coming out so over exposed?

Doesn't seem to matter what I set my camera to or what my MW settings tag is set to...

Any ideas?

TIA

You are well come Adri  .

Well the over exposed could be by three causes

1_ fstop: the bigger number of fstop the less exposed will be the scene.
i mean , if you set the fstop to 20, the scene will be more dark (and of course more deph of file. All scene will be very well defined). But if you set the fstop to 4(default value in cinema) the scene will be more illuminated(and of course less deph of field, the scene will be out of focus in the objects that are not nearer to the camera target).

2_ shutter speed(i think here is your error)

in cinema the shutter speed units are: (s) seconds

and in maxwell viewer are : (1/s)

The default shutter speed maxwell camera in cinema is 0,017.
Well you have to change this parameter to 200 or whatever you want.

3_iso:
the highest iso values the more illuminated will be the scene.

Well sorry for my english and i hope these help you.

tried all of those settings jespi.

shutter has been from 0.001 to 1000 and no difference. Do I have to have the camera tag against every object? Or in a particular location?

Thanks again.

Can you post a print screen of the object manager ?
Have you applied a maxwell camera tool to the scene camera?

Look at the object manager and see if you have the same.

Shutterspeed is *much* too high here! You should use the fact, that Cinema
calculates inside edit fields. So you put in "1/200" and you get 0,005.

Be careful though: Cinema displaxs only the 3rd number behind the point,
however, it saves the exact number! So "1/1000" and "1/2000" are both
displayed as "0.001", and 1/5000 is even displayed as "0".

Hope it helps

I notice that you're using a similar setup to me. I have the ARchicad Edu version and I'm using the exchange plugin. The idea is to do the basics in AC and then export to C4D to add details.

Not sure if it will work but looks worth a try.

I can see that you're objects are all in a tree below the maxwell settings tag. mine aren't and that might be the problem. how do I put them in the tree?

TIA

Hy adri!

Yes, archicad to cinema works pretty fine. This is the workflow i use: first model in archicad and them export by materials . Sorry but as i´ve tall you before i´m new with cinema and still stil a lot to learn, and i can´t help you more. I hope someone will help us .

Ahhh, eres de españa tu tambien?. Bueno , a ver si consigues resolver esas dudas. La verdad es que debiera haber videotutoriales de iniciacion para los plugins.

It looks like you don't have a camera in your scene adri. Add a camera and add a maxwell camera tag to it I guess. I don't know Cinema, but I suggest you familiarize yourself with the basics of Cinema first.

Hello, I try to understand your problem but really i don´t get it (maybe the language barrier).
Seen your screenshots there are few tips

- The Maxwell Render Settings "Always" be the first object in your scene, and any object can be a child form this.
- The Shutterspeed of Maxwell Camera is 1/s now use 200, 100, 1500, etc before this update the tag used 0.05, 0.001, etc
- If the Sky object doesn´t have a mxi texture attached then the object become useless when you hit render.
- The Floor object can´t be render.

Cheers
