I can't seem to get emitters to work at the moment in C4D - just getting a black cube. I used them with version 1 for a project but that was using studio. I can't seem to get them to work in either app now with 1.1. I have tried the cinemaxwell emitter tag and also the mxm tag with an emitter material and no luck. What am i doing wrong? I have been trying with a simple cube that has been made editable.

If i open a new scene in studio then i can get a preset light to work but they won't work in one of my scenes when opened in studio.

Any ideas?

You should try the usual steps first :

a) check your normals (and of course the ones of the cube.. )

b) check your scene scale

c) check your emitter intensity

Can you give us some more info on the scene ?

I´ve had a similar issue. What i did at the end was to delete the emitter tag, make a duplicate of the cube, delete the old one and re-tag the new cube exactly as the original. This was the only thing that worked for me.

Well guess what it works again now. Did exactly the same procedure (all of about 3 steps) and now it works! Maybe I should just try a re-boot next time!
