Hi tyron,

i hope this will not be used again from others as a ranting thread.

i just wanted to ask if there is a chance that you can tell something about updates and improvements going on with the plugin?

do you test already something, is NL wiorking on an update of the plugins?

if there is anything i can help, please tell me...

thanks & cheers

We all know how bad NL are at uploading the latest updates. Before the last update I'd emailed NL and basically begged them for an update so I could continue working with Cinemaxwell. They promptly emailed me an updated plug-in. I thought it would be available via the Maxwell download site in a matter of days.

4 weeks later an no sign of the updated plug-in so I made it available to fellow C4D users. I just hope they don't have a working plug-in sitting on someone's HD.

Please just upload what you have ready NOW.

Hello IIab, Thomas and Zoetropeuk,

I cannot say anything at the moment, but lets keep the spirits up and continue to practice lighting and materials for the time being.

I'll be sure to let you know something as soon as I can.

I just hope we will actually get another update, and one where the camera and tag handling have been reverted to the 1.0 system.

I´ve been a beta tester myself so i can understand that Tyrone can´t reveal anything about it, and appreciate his effort(even though we have our differences in opinion about Cinemaxwell).
But it´s also kinda hard to keep spirits up, and rather pointless practicing lights and materials, when the renders usually come out completely blank.

rochr, i understand you fully, but to be honest i still think you must be doing something wrong, my renders never, ever come out blank.i cant imagine that systems behave so different. you are right for sure in the way that the camera system isnt very easy to understand. far from like a photo...

i too hope for an update as you though myself. lets keep fingers crossed...

cheers

Well until up to yesterday i was also thinking if the issue may have been my fault, but not anymore.
The fact that i managed to render out two different views of the scene just fine, then pulled a few points on a couple of models, (never even touching tags or the cameras) , and those same views came out blank the second time i tried to render them, convinced me that this is a bug.
The voxelisation went up to 100% instantly those second times, as if no objects were beeing calculated.

Not even sure if this is a camera bug anymore, but a bug it is.

sorry to hear,
very strange, never had this, (are you sure you havent activated another window view when manipulating the modell?)

if not i would say please send this file to NL or tyron if possible. without file it is hard to clean up the bug i guess.

Hello Rochr,

I'm not sure if you are having the same black render issues that I have had many times, but if you are, I have yet to find a solution.

I e-mailed NLs customer support a couple of times about the problem and offered to send some MXS for analysis, but received no response.

I only worked from the top view during modeling, and then switched back to and maximized perspective camera view, so we can at least rule out wrongly selected windows. The perspective camera view is btw what i normally have maximized, unless i need to work on models.
Here´s also the half done scene i rendered out in 1.1. Now both views come out as blanks every time.
The only alteration i did right before it stopped working was to connect the points at the corners of the hedges, that´s it.

Unfortunatly i´ve already brought this issue up with NL´s tech support twice, and they don´t seem to have any interest in replying to emails, so i think we can pretty much rule out that option as well.
So my only chance for using Maxwell, as it seems, is to hope for another update. Either way it´s pointless to practice on materials and such in 1.1, because with the current version i can´t use them anyway.

I dunno, perhaps the best thing would be to put this program to rest for now, and try again if another update is released. :(

Thanks for the tip Steve, but it seem to be another issue. I don´t get black renders, only clear skies with no objects. And this is with targetted cameras and proper viewport maximized as described above.
Plus the scenes initially work, only to suddenly go blank.

This may sound like a stupid question but are you adding a Maxwell Camera tag to the camera ? I know 1.1 works without using the camera tag but I've not had a single camera issue with 1.1. Some of my scenes have over 20 cameras.

I believe I already posted it somewhere, so forgive me, if I'm repeating myself.

I have clear sky renderings in c4d, whenever (I mean always when) the first object in my object list is turned off for renderer.
When the first object in the list (seen from top to bottom) is visable for the renderer, this never happens.

Greetings. Mesut.
