Is anyone able to assign texture maps within Cinema using a Maxwell plastic tag and have it render? I am not able. Are we limited to such an assignment from within Studio only?

Also, anyone having any luck using emitters alone without any physical sun or skydome? I have to increase the wattage so high that it can not possibly be physically accurate in order to see just a little light.

If anyone is having these issues, please speak up.

Thanks,

Kevin

OK, since I am the only one having problems with textures, how do I use them from within Cinema. I have been using Maxwell from the beginning through RC5. Are there image format limitations with this build?

Someone atleast tell me that they are able to assign a texture via the Cinema plug-in......

Your best workflow for this is to use the material editor, create your materials using the material wizard if you like and save them as *.mxm.

Use this mxm in the custom mxm material tag from within Cinema 4D. I would suggest using only newly created materials from V1.0.

OK. Good suggestion, but then how do I assign a planar projection using this material without having to resort to UV's?

Thanks,

Tyrone:

Can you confirm that we can no longer map a texture within Cinema and pair it with a "Maxwell Plastic" tag? If so, there goes my workflow. Whenever I do this the render takes on all the properties of the tag including the color (that flourescent green default). However, when I remove the tag and just leave the Cinema assigned image map, the texture shows up (of course, without any reflection, etc.) Please confirm this for me as I am really starting to get frustrated trying to get this to work.

Thanks,

Kevin

So in V1.0... we can use textures like in beta or RC5, directly from cinema 4D... IS THAT RIGHT ?

Kevin, you can map a texture in Cinema 4D and render to maxwell. I did not say the reverse, I said that at the moment the best workflow is to create your materials in the material editor for the ones that do not contain maps.

For the materials that contain maps, UV them in Cinema 4d, export the object to Maxwell Studio so you can see how it looks work on the custom material from there. Of course, mapping works from the plugin, just do not expect as much power as you would get from Maxwell Material Editor. Read "readme" file that comes with the plugin to see what channels are related to what for the plugin.

Post your screen shots or your scene file so I can see what you are doing.

Hello Goncalo,

You can use the material tags from the plugin in Cinema 4D and render to maxwell if you like. I prefer to run the standalone material editor, and use the wizard to quickly get the materials you remember from Beta. Save them as custom mxms then use the custom mxm tag in Cinema 4D.

It might have escaped me, but yesterday evening we were trying to use the material browser to select or change a custom mxm.

Any way to do this? It's seems that the Material Browser is a bit useless with the Cinema plugin.

Cheers

Tyrone:

I appreciate your answer, but I am unable to use a Cinema material with an image map in conjunction with Maxwell Plastic and get the image map to show up in the render. Someone please humor me and try this....

Thanks,

Kevin

Now, the thread Tyrone referred to, doesn't explain how to map images in Cinema or did I overlook something? I did not manage to make any image textures work till now. :?

The same here.

I've noticed that plastic tags with texture work fine only with the bump channel. No colour and no reflection channel.

Please do something.
