If your leafs are clipmapped I'd say thats the problem here.
Clipmapped areas are as time cosuming and produce as much noise as dielectrics i have seen

well, yes but what is the report?
I was working on an interior scene that had quite a few polys. Not nearly as many as you have though. It took about 20 minutes to start. The export to mxs is painfully slow. 3 hours is just silly though. Hopefully they can optimize this.

Make everything editable and connect all object with same materials. It is drmatically faster then.

i´ve also experienced long export times, last noticed with the beta 06c plugin... with my dual xeon ht 3.2, processor use while exporting is around 3-5%.
if i use my old p4 2.4 laptop with no ht cinemaxwell used all processor resources (100%) and the same scene exported way faster (let´s say 10 times).
maybe cinemaxwell has problems with multiprocessor or hyperthreading...
