Pray 4 Vray.
Rizon,

I think those that did not have established workflows in 3D packages like C4D or 3D Max, etc, have found Studio to give them features they did not have in say, Sketchup or Rhino, and are using it quite well and offten.
For myself, and I believe plenty of others on C4D, we have just gotten to play with it but in terms of work have done little.

Pray for Maxon to develop physical lighting.

i use it daily for work. in cinema 4d.

could be better the plugin and a lot of features miss, but it does it job if you know how. it is not easy i admid. specially the 1.1 plugin is a catastrophy in workflow!

If we set aside the bugs, for me it comes down to the disastrous workflow and the lousy memory handling.
If you need perfectly photoreal results, i can perfectly understand why you struggle with Maxwell.
However, if you´re like me, creating pretty heavy fictional environments where photorealism is less important, Maxwell plain suck.
Add to it the need of high resolution renders for print (5000+ pixels)and Maxwell "RAM-hog" Render suck even more.

Every time i start working on a scene, i need to ask myself if i want to spend 3-4 times as much time on it than usual in order to texture and set everything up so that Maxwell accepts it. And every time that answer is going to be - Not a chance!
I love Maxwells physical lighting and would be happy as hell if i could use it for my scenes, but the end result is simply not worth all the extra screwing around with multi-tags, workarounds and that idiotic half-integrated materials editor where you need half an hour just to get a proper preview of the simplest of materials.

Exactly Rochr! I would add the bugs because I have yet to have a bug free project.

Illab, in all seriousness, could you explain to me how you use the plugin on a daily basis and how you get around its shortcomings? I really want to use this software, but it is like banging my head against a wall. Poor workflow is one thing, but simple lack of necessary features + bugs has completely turned me off. But, maybe I've been missing something.

I understand Rochr and the others completly, the promissed integration is very limited, and the 1.1 plug is a killer for my workflow too.
same as lllab, I use it in my daily work too, but i had to stick to
v1.0 and make a lot of compromise (like resolution, modeling...)
so I cant say its usles, an I hope that the new plug version will have the v1.0 workflow
you can check some examples of the work done here:

it is very much posible to work in 1.1., at least for stills.

I don't care anymore, really... after installing the damn thing for maybe about 50 times, having patience over and over during the whole multiple development period, bugs, license issues, money issue, i have to say it is a piece of sh*t... i don't get it that people are still defending NL... For professionals, this is an absolute no-go... i don't have the time for reinstalls, bug work-arounds etc... as a hobby thing i can understand... but then as a Louis Vuitton hobby thing...

Only for Macs apparently, so for those of us who work on PC´s, there´s no change whatsoever. We´re still stuck with the old 1.1 release.

What new plug-in? It's exactly the same! So now we can work in Studio much faster because it's UB, great!

The joke is not over yet.

The new plug-in only adds support for new new Universal Binary mac edition. I does not have any other functional change. Sorry if it was confusing.

It actaully just got funnier as you now need TWO Macs just to be able to render with the UB version. So for those with JUST an Intel Mac you're screwed I'm afraid.
