Hi Noseman,

We are working hard on updates and better plug-ins. Bugs will be fixed, it will be redesigned and all known issues will be addressed. This would have happened with out without your complaints.

We have been guilty in the past of giving "release dates" and not delivering them. We do not want to make the same mistakes, and have therefore adopted the policy of not giving specific release dates or other "false or half promises". However, we will release great updates for the C4D plug-in and all other plug-ins in the comings weeks and months.

We understand you frustrations and have apologized for delays and bugs many times, and we are trying to fix things.

Cheers,
Nicole

Isn't this the ONLY medium to use? I personally have sent several tech support e-mails to NL for problems that were not solved here and I have NEVER heard a word back. In one fit of stuborness I even sent a followup e-mail and a couple followups to the followup. In those e-mails I virtually begged for a reply, anything, just to know that they are recieving e-mails at all. Nothing.

I look at it like this, from me to the A-teamers to NL. Hopefully. NL put that communication channel in place, not the users and I'm guessing not the A-team either. And if Juan or someone from NL happens to stumble into a thread every once in a while, well then that's something I guess. It's better than just handing over money and walking away without standing up to say hey, you owe me a working product. This is V1.1, not some experimental software, but a product for sale and I bought!

Hi Nicole.

Will you people also do something about the memory issues while you´re at it?
Right now it´s an impossibility to render out anything in high resolution, unless it´s a shiny primitive or two.

Some of us need highres renders, 5000 pixels and above, and Maxwell with its non-functional HD support has so far been completely unsatisfying in that area.

And no, image enhancing software is not an acceptable option.

Hi Seco,

We track all the mails we received and it is sure we answer all of them, especially if they are from customers. It might be happening that your mails never were received or your antispan filter deleted them. Please could you sent your questions again?

Kind regards,

Juan

Thanx nicole and juan for the replies.
I'll refrain from complaining until I have another good reason to. :P

I'll upgrade my patience and expect to see the real quality of M~R as a product. 8)

Wish

I'd like to have a better support for instances. I use them a lot for tiles and building facades .... so I even have Instances of Instances that have not just one object referenced but a null with a lot of objects. And that's what slows Maxwell a lot. If I break down all the instances to objects then maxwell works a lot faster but I loos all the references...

Therefore I wish for a better support for Instances!

Sometimes instances of instances are ignored totally by maxwell...

Hi,

i just wanted to give my support to Noseman.
I stopped complaining and i also stopped using MW altogether as i realized this was just a huge time sink with no result.

Due to people like Noseman i might one day be able to use Maxwell... we will see.

Thanks

P.S.: That didn't stop me from warning everyone and his dog to not ever deal with NextLimit of course. Just to be clear about this!

Hi Stefan.

I´m trying to render out 2-4 million poly building segments, but whenever i go above 3000x2000 pixels, Maxwell wont even start. If activating the hd support, it runs out of memory. The same buildings render out fine if i use C4D only, and in much higher resolution.

For example, here´s a scene i´m working on that is even worse with the resolution part. There are 4 parts of 8 rendered here so far, (4 different renders compositioned), and all of them in lousy 2600x1500. Anything above that resolution, and i suffer the problems i mentioned above.

I´m used to run out of memory in C4D when creating high poly stuff, but i´ve NEVER had any problems with image resolution.
The minimum i require from a render for printing purposes is 5000x3500, and so far that has not been possible.

But any tips on how to overcome the problem is naturally welcome.

very nice modell!:-)

when using -hd be sure to set the size correct, it is somehow mossleading but you have also to set not more than 128 or 256mb maximum( i think that's the chunck size) then it works, it should at least.

i normally can render 4000x2000 without hd this is 8megapixel. in former times i also did render bigger, but i found out that with MW it needs not so high resolutions as with renderings. it is more like a digicam. 8megapx for a digiimage is quite good to print anything until A0.
but if bigger size really is needed i tested the hd option in some cases, it gets a bit slower but worked for me.

dont know if this helps you, but try testing the memory site in -hd, maybe this was your problem.

cheers,
Stefan

I may be a little behind here, but I have just received and installed C4D release 10. I downloaded and installed the latest version of Maxwell and C4D plugin. I then started up C4D, went to the plugins menu and... nothing.
Cinemaxwell is nowhere to be seen. Is everybody experiencing this? It may be an understatement, but looking around the forum things don't seem to be as they should be with this latest version. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi jasminmarvin.

Welcome to your 1st post. :)

I'm afraid I can't really help you with R10, because I didn't upgrad (yet?).

But I tried the demo a few weeks ago... everything seemed to work normally, besides the camera-parameters... as you can read somewhere else in on this forum. None of the camera-parameters are recognized by the renderer, when they are adjusted within then plug-in.

Very unusual that you even can't see the plug-in in your plug-in menu... Are you sure, you've copied the plug-in the plug-in directory of the R10?

As an example, this is the path, in which it is put in my installation:
DRIVE\Programme\Maxon\CINEMA 4D R9\plugins\
