I just ran through my workflow, C4D R10/Cinemaxwell 1.1>Studio, and it work flawlessly.
I assign all my materials, textures and HDRI's in Studio.
Now if I can just change the ugly colors of the new Icons, I will be a happy camper. To my eye the beauty of Cinema has been somewhat diminished.

Just switch the gui back to the original settings and you have the old look.

I like the new cinema look. Not that bright and candylike - more settled and getting more focus on the scene.

I found the "Classic" setting in Preferences and am happy again.
Something close to the chosen orange is common for prison jump suits and not uncommon on various warning or construction signs here. Not something I care to have on my monitor.
I grew up in Florida. We're born with an "Hawaiian Shirt Color License". :)

I don't think it's free help that is the problem. Maxon's website is their store, so if people don't have to go to the store to get the demo, they're less likely to look at the description, the pricing, and the other products available.

Hi guys

I need some help in deciding whether to upgrade or not. I use C4D with VectorWorks and mainly for rendering. So does r10 have a new rendering engine (r3) or does it still use the r2.5 one and is the rendering any better or faster than 9.

TIA.

just ran a test, gi interior scene with 9.102 and 10.
version 10 ran through it around 30 % faster, so, we will definitley upgrade...

There is a long thread about this on the CGTalk C4D Forum. Look in the Rendering sub-forum. AR 2.5 was not one of the targeted improvements for this release. Satisfaction with it really depends on your particular needs. Um, just like satisfaction with any other render engine. I used AR 2.5 before Maxwell. And haven't touched it since I installed Maxwell.
I use C4D for other things and R10 looks very good from that point of view.

This is because there was an upgrade to AR module in 9.5 a year ago. You could have been taking advantage of that speed boost for a while now

No backward compatibility this time, so everybody will need to adjust to that.
What are you finding thats not compatible? Jenna, Maxwell, Color Mapping and Riptide all work here. All those are from the 9.1 to 9.5 era.
I was just playing with a 7.5 million poly pair of earrings and everything was smoothe as silk.

Hi Fluffy,
I don't know about that as I can't save anything in the R10 demo. Have you read something describing the lack of file format compatibity with previous releases?
Also, maybe I am the one that misunderstood Kabe. I just had plug in on my mind as that is always a big question when a new version comes out.
Content Browser is much improved by the way. Easier to navigate and more robust in opening non-C4D formats. Very handy, particulary when searching for textures, bump maps, etc.
