Hi all

i've downloaded the plugin for lightwave osX... After expanding the archive i've a maxwell.plugin file. How can i install it? Lightwave can't recognise it. I've tried to change the extension to "p" but no fortune.

Thanks

Thanks

It only works with the Universal Binary version of Lightwave.

Bummer as only a handful of plugins have made the transition & many never will. That's the nature of progress (at least for mac users).

To soften the blow-

LWCAD is UB
VueXstream is UB
EXR Trader is UB
And some Pictrx plugs are UB
DP Nodes & Chanlum shaders are UB too

hi bbuxton

the latest LWCAD work well with LW 9.3 (osx not UB)... I use it for my everyday job as illustrator.

about "many never will", i'm tired to follow this freakish attitude of NL, i've paid for a product that actually is impossible to use for me. I hope someone of NL will read this post. But it seems that now they have my money and i have nothing (or at least i don't have the thing they have promised me). This is the fact. They haven't never said that i need a new computer...

I have LW 9.3 UB installed alongside my PPC version just for Maxwell.
The new plugin works fairly well and is much nicer to use than before.
No more black polygons or UV funkyness.

Unfortunately that doesn't change the fact that I will need to invest in about £10K worth of 'Rendering computers' to get work out in a reasonable time frame - not at all practical working from home.

Hi BB

yes, i agree about home working with MR, but at this moment as you can imagine i can't work at all with maxwell, studio and home :?

It would be nice to have an official communication by NL like this:
"ATTENTION! users of OSX (not UB), we have stopped the development of our products for that system. Email us to receive your money back, sorry. The NL team"

895$! that i haven't stolen, but i've earned with my work, without say lies to nobody. I'm an honest guy.

Excuse a naive question from a non mac users, but I thought universal binaries could be installed on any OSX both with ppc and intel cpu. So, if you install LW (ub) on your system, couldn't you use the plugin? Or what am I missing?

UB plugins work on both Intel & PPC - but require UB version of Lightwave.

There shouldn't be any conflict between LW configs if you install both versions as they are stored in different places. I only use the UB version when sending stuff to Maxwell, the rest of the time I use the PPC version as very few of the plugins I use have been ported to UB so far.

I labeled my UB version green so I don't launch the wrong one when I'm half asleep.
