I've checked in the user manual pdf I downloaded with the software and there is no mention of command line options or network rendering. Is there another document I don't have?

For a Mac user that is the wrong question. It should read:

Where is network rendering at all?
Where is animation?

I was a big supporter of Maxwell once, but three months of total silence really have worn me down.
