I have troubles with cooperative too. When one machine crashed down I was not able to resume too.
Nodes saves maybe same picture but mxi file is not only one for all. They are same count as nodes. Check your temp file. You should find them. I thing only mxi files are important for final linking nodes together.
I have another problem. When final linking starts (only on one node) that PC always crashed...
Please, let me know if you succed. Any tip helps... Bye

To render in cooperative mode properly:

a ) add a 1 work:
In MXS selection dialog use:

number of cooperative nodes: number of independent CPU's ( klim, in your case 4 )
MXS: select a MXS shared file in the network visible from all nodes.
Send files to manager: NOT SELECT THIS CHECKBOX, I think it has some kind of bug.

The MXS must contain a -output that references a shared path too ( or you can overwrite it using MXC file )
Push OK

b ) If the nodes are ready, the renders will start. Do not worry if they are writting the same file. When all nodes finished one more process will be launched ( linking ) and when it finishs it will create the final output file.

klim wrote: Once you started the Cooperative Rendering, you CANNOT add any more servers or if any server encounter problem, DO NOT restart it, as it will NOT join in the cooperartive rendering but to start from scratch as a separate render stream, overriding all the hard work the other machines are doing!
You cannot ADD more servers once you started the cooperative render. You CAN'T because really you are not adding servers, you are queuing a NEW work independent. If the output file in the new work is the same as the actual work YES it will be overwritted.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

a ) do not select more cooperative nodes than available servers
b ) it doesn't matter if each node is overwritting the same ouput file ( in a same work ). The important output file is generated in linking process.
c ) it doesn't matter the speed of nodes, for example, with the same time, node 1 reaches level 10, node 2 level 6 and node 3 level 11. The work of all the nodes will be used to generate the final output file.
