is it possible to merge two multilight mxi files?? if i try to load them, there is a warning that only one file is accepted.

thanks in advance

You have to specify an mxi path before starting the render, otherwise if you save an mxi from MXCL after the rendering is done, it will only save an "image" mxi, which can't be used to merge with other mxis.

In Studio, or in your plugins, where you specify the normal image output, you can also specify an mxi output, which is Maxwells special render format. You have to specify it before rendering, and Maxwell will then save an mxi which can be used to merge with other mxi files. Don't forget to specify a unique seed value for each mxi, for example in the command line input in Studio, you write seed:4 for example.

i hope for 1.2 or 1.3 that this policy with 2 different kinds of mxis will change again.

i find it hard to have one mxi that is able to coopmerge and another one that is not. either one should be indicated by another extension. and there should ne also the option to save full mxis from mxcl after rendering.

so we would have a .mxil "light", and a normal .mxi that can be merged.

i know how it works, but i find it a bit dangerous to loose track of all those different mxis, and sometimes it would be nice to be able to save a mxi after render and merge it later with another mxi.

just a suggestion for workflow:-)

cheers

so i can only merge two original mxi files. an mxi file where light is via multilight adjusted isnt anymore mergeable? right?

the mxi files i tried to merge where both adjusted with multilight and the seed point was defined after rendering, than a new mxi file was saved. that were those mxi`s i tried to merge.

You need to define the seed number before starting starting the render. Seed nr needs to be different for each mxi.

You can merge multilight mxi's, no problem.

The trick to do it is to specify a path for the mxi before launching the render. You can use the same mxs file; if you load it into mxcl you can change seed and mxi path and name before starting render.

The mxi saved after render from the mxcl menu does not work for cooperative.

Why is that anyway ? ....can we think this will change with the release?

Not that it's a big deal to work around, ....but ... you know what I mean. :)
