Does co-op start with seed 0? So if I co-op with 3 machines I've used seed 0,1 and 2 so to rerender I could set the seeds and 3,4 and 5 on an individual basis?

Does it matter if the seeds are consecutive at all? Could I say use seeds 10,11, 12 after a co-op?

TIA

As far as I know : Yes to all.

Just be careful, I fell into that trap : If you have a coop render that you sent as a coop through mxcl -manager and you used 3 computers it will have Seed 0 to 2.

Do not start the individual render with seed 3 using the manager, use mxcl -d on that machine and start it there manually. It seems that by using the manager it always transports seed nr 0 to the nodes. That little trick did cost me a lot of hours one night.....

Oh, and I did merge a Seed 0 with a 50 and 150. No problems at all.

Seed is assigned manually only when rendering in normal (non-cooperative) mode. Seed value doesn't have to be sequential but it must be unique.

Thanks Tom. :)

In reference to my other thread about manager crashing - Am I right to assume that mxi's produced by co-op can not be manually merged?

TIA

Unfortunately it's not possible yet, but we're working on better crash handlers.

Maybe I misunderstood the question but it is possible to manually merge coop jobs if the manager crashes, I do it all the time. Granted half of the MXI wind up with the same seed but it is possible to recover something.
