I never thought about a Mac Mini as a serious render node, how do they compare in speed to an Athlon Dual core 4800, that's what I'm going to build my farm out of.

By the way Victor e-mailed me and his opinion was that having fewer faster machines with more ram was the way to go.

I'm actually looking into building machines using the Core Duo processor like the Mac Mini uses. When you buy the Mac you paying a couple hundred bucks for the Apple logo, the design, etc. Although I would probably wait a few weeks and get the new Core 2. You can build a headless Core Duo machine for under $700, and the Core 2 reviews make it look like it will be the fastest thing you can buy.

All i know is that those Faukers can render at the same speed as the big machines with two processors instead of four. I am still trying to figure that one out. They stack up really well and if you ever need to use a mac, you have one...

My farm is made up of noting but PC's and I don't know a thing about Mac's or how they would operate on a network. I also will be using this farm for rendering in other applications besides Maxwell and I don't own any Mac licenses for anything.
