Hello all, i have connected my 2 pc's together and i have read the Maxwell manual on setting up network rendering but i am stuck!

It says -

Maxwell Manager (MXMAN.EXE)

The Manager controls job petitions coming from the Monitor and send them to the available
render nodes. These are the Maxwell render nodes started with the option “–server".

The Manager only requires a temporary network folder to store special data. The first time the
Manager opens it will ask for a temporary network folder, for example:

\\192.168.0.27/c/temp

But when i try and give it an address it tells me MXS path does not exists

I have created a folder called temp and inserting my ip (192.168.1.11) but no luck

What am i doing wrong?

Thanks

Adam Trachtenberg wrote:I'm not sure of the answer, but my advice is to not waste your time. Network rendering--at least in cooperative mode--is pretty worthless in the current release. Nine out of ten times it will either crash during the final linking process, or if the linking works, the final result will look worse than the unlinked result from a single machine.
Yeah :), heh heh, i hear what you're saying, i dont plan on doing any major renderings with it but i just wanted to test it out just to see how it worked

Hopefully Next Limit are gonna fix this, i mean maxwell without net rendering is pretty poor

Thanks

Ok i got it to work but the 2nd PC decided to restart itself in the middle of the render - is this maybe a sign that it got too hot or something? (its a new machine)

Well it took me a while to figure out but in the end here is the address i used (for the Maxwell net manager)

\\Richard/mxcl

Richard being my Computers name and "mxcl" is a folder i created in the C directory for my Maxwell files

for the net monitor i have used the actual IP of my computer, so for the manager address it is - 192.168.1.11
and the port - 4242

Hope this helps!

Do we need to start a user session in the main domain or do we need to start a local session in order to make it happen?

Thank´s.
