Everything related to Maxwell network rendering systems.

Hi All,

New to Maxwell and trying to get my head around the network rendering capabilities, noting my knowledge of networking is just about zero. Using Win7 on both PC's, but simply cannot get remote render node to be recognized, everything seems to be shared OK, firewall turned off, but 2nd node just won't show up. I have it hard wired, using Windows Homegroup everything seems to be sharing OK, but no second node...

I suspect Win7 and the Homegroup feature is anything but optimum, is there any optimal/easy route to add additional nodes without becoming, or employing, an IT expert? Is it possible to run the additional nodes in Ubuntu for example and be more easily configured?

Excuse the newbie/non-IT literate question here. But any guidance would certainly be appreciated.

Many thanks.

So you started Manager and Node on one computer and a Node on the other? I would still think it's something to do with the windows firewall and/or your AV that blocks the connection. If the computers find each other in the Home network it should work. You can try adding both maxwell.exe and mxnetwork.exe as exceptions to the firewall. What AV do you use?

OK, managed to get the PC's talking, allowed maxwell and mxnetwork through the firewall and both PC's are now seen in Network Monitor. Appears I had to update the PC #2 to 2.7.1 as it was smart enough to know there was a different level. Now I have a couple of different issues:

When I send a job to Network, it opens the Add Network Job Wizard, so far OK. When I select 'Cooperative Job' and hit 'Next', I get an error "MXI output does not seem a render". If I select continue, the job runs on both machines, but fails at the end "[ERROR]: The MXI files don't match." When I check the MXI files that are completed, the file from the main PC is fine, but the file form #2 PC has the Maxwell Render logo on it, hence files don't match.

Easy fix I assume?
