hi all,
i've a scene which seems to be quite hard to get a preview of, when rendering on network.
Usually it's ok, so i wonder if preview feature can smehow be scene dependant, or if it's something on my network. Image is not big (1200x800) so it should be quite fast to gather, but even if info says "preview sent", nothing appears.
Anything to check ?

thanks,
Paolo

yes, maxwell is up up date everywhere.
the only error in log is "rendering process on node 5 has failed" or something alike, but then it tries again and it renders even on node 5.
Beside this, all other nodes are just doing fine. Again, usually everything works perfectly, i didnt change anything in my system.. i wonder if it's this scene.

how many computers are there in your network?
are you using non-server windows for the repository(textures, scene files, etc..)?

you could be hitting a connection limit..

Probably it didn't merge correctly when the image finished either? Not just the preview....Check always the Manager logs in most cases if something goes wrong. You will see a few messages appear letting you know that Manager has received all MXI files>it sent those to MXI Merge for merging>it saved the merged MXI file in your output path. Each of these steps can have errors. For example it hasn't received all the MXI files, so no merging can start (probably what happened in your case), or it has received all files but you may have an older version of MXImerge.exe on the computer running the Manager, so it will say merging failed. And finally the error that it merged them ok but couldn't save the final MXI in the output path you specified. These three errors are about 90% of problems people get when network rendering.
