I can't seem to find an answer on this--can the command line mxcl -server service be run as a Windows System (not User) Service? I don't want to be required to log into every node to get the network rendering going! If each machine could show up by just being *turned on*, that would make life much easer!

I've put the Server shortcut into the startup folder of the machines to be used as the nodes, but nothing shows up in manager until someone actually logs in.

Thanks,
Angelo

No it can't be run as a service as it comes from NL; it is possible to set it up your self if you know how to do such a thing. By the way I asked NL over a year ago for this exact thing, Maya told me they were working on it and it wouldn’t be long.

angelobanjo - YES! This is exactly how I was running my network rendering in V1.1.
I got a mate at work to write a service for WinXP, so that whenever the machine was turned on, it was available for rendering - even if it was only at the logon screen.

I'll e-mail it out to you, just e-mail me at novaz_nz@gmail.com and include service in the subject tab.

Installation is easy, just run the .bat file. The machines you install it on just need you to run studio once afterwards.
Then reboot and it should appear as a running service.

**Edit** Forgot to add, use at your own risk!

as Maxer said, this little but important function should come soooon ...back in the beta days - if i remember correctly.

Thanks for the responses guys! Novaz, I tried to send you an e-mail, but it bounced. novaz_nz@gmail.com didn't work.
