I'm trying to run a test render over a network. the manager and servers setup fine and i can see to machines connected to the manager, but...

when i try to create a job and open up the file selection dialog to locate the MXS file, the text field remains empty after i selected the file and pressed OK!

I tested this on both computers to see if this is a local problem on one of them but the same problem remains. so... no file loaded, no render to be done!

Anyone else has this same thing going on?

many had thI s problem the solution is:
open the mxs file u want coop-renderin mxcl from file -menu , then assign the job to the machines AND u WILL see that the mxs file is eventuaLLY WRITTEN IN THE FILE SELETION DIALOGUE

OK... this works for me too... cool - but then, what is the purpose of the file dialog inside the render job dialog???

the next thing that doesn't work now is the merging of the MXI files... I've read some threads regarding this, bit no clear answer about this so far.

I didn't test this over the net with coop' active. i just stacked up 5 renders on the same computer, each with a different seed value and set to stop on sl=3

when merging this MXI files, i get the "ignore because of same seed as other mxi" message. what's up with that... the seed is different - or maybe maxwell just doesn't read the changing of the seed in the interface?

EDIT: Ok, i've checked all the jpg's for the renders i did... it seems all were rendered with the same seed even though i've set it to be different in the interface (mxcl -d) - so now i just set it in the command line options... will See how it goes.

OK... when i set the seed in the command line options it works, like it should.

here is a little test rendered to SL = 3 eight times with different seeds (all on the same computer through the network manager, just stacked them up)

the image shows the result for 1, 2, 4 and 8 mxi merged together.
