Hello,

I have done quick cooperative mxi render test.

Image

above image say all.

I rendered twice with one machine (one for seed 0 and another for seed 1) and merged them with cooperative mxi.

and then, I rendered once for 10 min.

:)

Hi sandykoufax,

The benefit of seed might not be perceived easily when the amount of merged images are low and the individual perceptional noise levels are low. It will be best testing it with low samples and many images. Imagine you rendered a big image just until SL 2 for 1 hour on your farm at 10 nodes and you merged these 10 images. For each image the noise will be high but the merged (with different seeds) image will look remarkably better than merging them at same the seed. Same seeds would not enhance the image when merged. In your example, noise level is very low so, it doesn't show up the difference but it's technically there anyway.

Best regards,
Tom

I think Sandy's test demonstrates it very well as it is. Two 5-min mxi's with different seeds are merged with a result comparable to a single 10-min mxi.

Seems to show up fine to my eyes...

I just tried to say, more remarkable test is possible.

one thing tom!

If we use the seed option to render 2 diff scenes, we need to split in the network 5 different computers for example for each scene( with diff seed each one), so... why do we need to create groups to render 2 diff scenes if we dont wanna use the seed. Which method is better????

Yes, you're exactly right.

I just wanna say that, but my mouth is full of foodstuff.

Toxie, a coop network render automatically assigns the seeds, you don't have to. Seed should be assigned just if you want to render and merge individual MXI files manually.

Tom, to merge 2 or more mxi files rendered in the same machine, do I have to change the name of the mxi also each time I launch the render?, or just the seed? I'm a little bit confused.
