Okay, since the "unofficial how-to on newtwork rendering" thread got woke back up I was wondering if anybody wanted to take a crack at a Co-op Render Calculator. I have some ideas on how it would work using file sizes as approximations for Sampling Levels, but I don't know the original equations that were used in the first render calculator. If anybody is interested in kicking around this idea let me know.

Yes, I (and I'm sure several others) would. I know before it was mentioned that there was no way to know what the new sampling level was, but there has to be some way to inspect the MXI and see how many more pixels have to be calculated, the same way it knows how much longer to a certain sampling level.

Or maybe I understand the process completely wrong, but there are some very smart people in the group, I'm sure somebody can do it. :D

I guest your best bet is to render on a single machine as a test, calculate the SL and time for that benchmark (With that amazing calculator we now have) and then more or less figure that for every node you add you might get half or more of the original image. It is a guesing game, but it should make somewaht sense; at lest for me.
